What to expect

RoMaDyn offers professional training seminars covering many different aspects of rotating machinery. Below you will find a brief description of what to expect. Please contact us for specific pricing.

Machinery Diagnostics

This seminar teaches the fundamentals of vibration theory and practice that are required for successful rotating machinery diagnostics. Students will learn to interpret start-up/shutdown and steady state vibration data plots, understand the sources of rotating machinery vibration and to recognize common machinery malfunctions. The seminar makes extensive use of hands-on workshops using full-featured field diagnostic equipment to reinforce lecture topics. Each student will receive a copy of the seminar text, Fundamentals of Rotating Machinery Diagnostics, and a workshop manual. This seminar is designed for engineers, supervisors, managers, and rotating equipment support professionals responsible for design, operation, and maintenance of rotating equipment.

Alignment and Field Balancing

Alignment and Field Balancing run consecutively. Students may register for both the alignment and field balancing sessions together or for either session separately.

Seminar Descriptions

Alignment: Students will learn to use graphical and analytical techniques to align rotating machines. Lectures and workshops will include many practical alignment considerations including dealing with thermal growth. Hands-on labs will give students opportunity to practice their skills using lab stations and advanced diagnostic instruments. Case histories will provide examples of application of techniques in the field.

Field Balancing: Students will learn to use graphical and analytical techniques to balance single and multi- (dual) plane rotors. Lectures and workshops will include many practical field balancing conditions such thermal vectors, critical balancing decisions, balancing within alarm limits, noise compensation and industry balancing standards. Multiple hands-on labs will give students opportunity to practice their skills using lab stations equipped with rotor kits and advanced diagnostic instruments.

Data Acquisition and Data Management Software Operation

This training provides the knowledge and skills required to successfully operate vibration data acquisition and/or data management software. RoMaDyn field engineers have many years experience with several commonly used software systems and can tailor their instruction to the specific system(s) in your plant. Students will learn to configure transducer channels, acquire data, and display vibration data plots in workshops designed to provide practice and instructor feedback.

Externally Pressurized Bearings

This seminar provides machine designers, rotating equipment engineers and support professionals and managers with the tools and knowledge to better design and manage rotating machinery equipped with fluid film bearings.

Transducer Installation, Operation and Maintenance

This seminar teaches the principles of transducer operation and the resulting installation and maintenance guidelines that must be observed for reliable transducer performance. Students will practice their skills in hands-on workshops that reinforce the instructor presentations.

Monitoring System Operation and Maintenance

This seminar teaches the principles of monitoring system operation and the maintenance skills necessary for reliable operation. Students will practice their skills in hands-on workshops that reinforce the instructor presentations.
